Research within CISM

Whether you are looking for a place to start a research degree or for expertise with which to collaborate, the faculty offers a community of highly motivated research active academics, bright and highly imaginative researchers and students, and excellent technical and administrative support. Much of our research focuses on real-world problems in partnership with Government agencies and industry as well as academics from across the world. Over the past few years, these partners have included the Cancer Research UK, Metropolitan Police, Home Office Scientific Development Branch, Royal Botanic Gardens Kew, St George's NHS Trust and the Railway Safety and Standards Board as well as a wide range of industrial collaborators.

Congratulation to James Cope for his two papers accepted for publication at the ACIVS 2010 conference
The BMVA/EPSRC Summer School on Computer Vision was successfully organised by Dr Dimitrios Makris in Kingston University for a second consecutive year. 35 students from UK and Europe attended a programme of 18 lecturers over 5 days (12-16 July 2010).
Congratulations to Michal Lewandowski, whose paper "View and Style-Independent Action Manifolds for Human Activity Recognition" has been accepted at ECCV 2010.
Congratulations to Michal Lewandowski, whose paper "Temporal Extension of Laplacian Eigenmaps for Unsupervised Dimensionality Reduction of Time Series" has been accepted for oral presentation at ICPR 2010.
Dr Sergio A Velastin has been elected to the Board of Governors of the IEEE Intelligent Transport Systems Society for a term of three years 2010-2012.

Keynote lecture on Intelligent RFID Systems for m- health Applications presented by Professor Robert Istepanian

Professor Robert Istepanian was recently invited to present a keynote lecture on the 3rd International Conference RFID in Bilbao, Spain, from 25 to 27 November 2009. The title of his Keynote Lecture on 26 November 2009 on Intelligent RFID (iRFID) Systems for m-health Applications. Further details on the conference and the lecture can be accessed in the link.
